Fall/Nautical Wedding and Tinting Glass Bottles
I recently had the honor of decorating for a friend’s wedding. She had decided on beautiful jewel tone colors with a mix of flowers, white pumpkins and a hint of the sea.
The proposal took place while taking a boat ride…discovering a message in a bottle…).The day was as gorgeous as she was and everything fell into place. Here are a few of the decorations…as well as my experience (How to instructions) on tinting glass bottles to fit her wedding theme.
She married a real life captain and fisherman…so the lobster crate was a must! 🙂I love the handcrafted arbor her hair stylist made for the celebration.
Remember my cracker tray makeover…details HERE. It was a perfect fit for holding supplies needed for a prayer tree.
I made a two-way sign for the Bride & Groom’s table.
The bottles did not turn out to look as solid in color as seen at It’s Overflowing, but it worked for bottles lost at sea.
I did follow all the instructions…except, I used regular food coloring (I already had) instead of the recommended gel tubes (coloring). It must be the key. So, if I make them again I will definitely use the gel.The only thing I would add to her instructions, is when you (quickly) flip the drained upside down bottles to an upright position, hold a paper towel (firmly) at the opening (before flipping it over). Awe…they looked so pretty before going into the oven. 🙂
Although, not perfect, they were the perfect touch to complete our table display.
