Tweet-Tweet: DIY Bird Feeder
No need to spend money on expensive bird feeders! Have fun and make one yourself…you probably have the items just hanging out in a junk drawer, garage and/or recycling bin.
ITEMS NEEDED FOR YOUR BIRD FEEDER:
STEPS:
Take the 1 liter bottle and mark it at the location you want to place your perch/seed (I used a sharpie and made a dot approximately 2″ from the bottom).
I then made another dot on the opposite side of the bottle.
I made an “X” (or asterisk) with a knife at both dots/marks. (CAREFUL: Keep your fingers out of the way in case you slip).
Place the handle of the spoon through the first slit and then through the second slit. After getting the spoon in position, you may need to make your opening a little larger (above it) to get the bird seed to come out into the spoon.
I added a touch of embellishment with Washi Tape (available at your local craft store).
Add the bird seed (if you do not have a funnel, just use a sheet of paper to make one).
I could not resist adding a little embellishment with beads/findings (I attached with 24 gauge brown wire).
Then attached 24 gauge wire around the top and made a handle. With a little green (outdoor) acrylic paint, I painted the lid.
Time to feed the birdies…a plastic bottle and an old wooden spoon never looked so beautiful!!!
As always, feel free to share your bird feeder creation on my Facebook page…I would love to see it!
