RUST-IC SIGN
Do you love rust as much as I do? Well, if so you will enjoy this old wooden door piece transformed into a rust – rusty – rust-o-licious (faux) metal sign!
My hubby helped me cut the wooden door into sections. See, You + Me = Love for the blank pieces of wood. With a ruler and chalk I marked the center of the outside frame and added a few metal tacks.
I used acrylic paint in rust and grey tones to add several layers of paint. This is it looking a bit more rusty orange in color (above)…
Look at all the delicious layers of paint! ♥Okay, one more layer of light grey to the outside and a deeper grey/black color to the inside panel. What do you like better…more rusty orange or the grey/black look???I think I am like most creative types when it comes to finding a stopping point in projects. Something can always be added! However, I love the advice of Seth Godin, “The only purpose of starting is to finish, and while the projects we do are never really finished, they must ship.” 🙂
Other than adding the sentiment, it’s ready to ship!

Michelle, this is so pretty. I have to admit when I first started blogging I did not like all this rust at all. But in this one year, I have come to appreciate and find beauty in imperfection. That is, of course, the case with rust. The patina just shines through in this particular piece.
