More of What I Love – Happy Heart Made by Michelle Marttila

“The Mountains Are Calling And I Must Go…” John MuirFollowing your heart and dreams can be a scary thing.  We all have something good we desire to do or be.  However, so many “what if’s” can come to mind and keep us stuck in one place (like we are in quicksand….or quick (very quick) drying […]

Merry Christmas 2015

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, […]

Christmas On The Porch 2015

Is it December? We have had beautiful weather in Virginia. I was able to work outside, clean off my porch, and add a few simple touches of Christmas! I’m talking very simple here!!!  I added to the mix a green rusty bird feeder and rotors off my jeep.  My husband changed the brake pads and […]

How To Make A Snow Globe

I love anything handmade.  Snow globes are a favorite of mine around Christmas time…just something magical about them.  They are perfect under a tree, for centerpiece/table displays, and to add a whimsy touch to a child’s room (any room!). Plus, they are soooooooooooo easy to make (with or without water).

Fall/Nautical Wedding and Tinting Glass Bottles

I recently had the honor of decorating for a friend’s wedding. She had decided on beautiful jewel tone colors with a mix of flowers, white pumpkins and a hint of the sea. The proposal took place while taking a boat ride…discovering a message in a bottle…).

Possibilities, Paint, and Personal Touches

I love finding and making pieces that are unique, fun, and personal. It’s thrilling to transform things (just about anything) into something new and give it a second chance.  One easy and affordable way to do this is to give old items a new twist with paint. Right now, I am working on several projects at […]

YOU SIDE

YOU are my Sunshine.

It’s been raining here in Virginia for days.  This inspired me to work on some fun pieces to brighten things up. New this week is, “YOU” are my Sunshine.   It makes me smile and reminds me that the Lord is my Sunshine, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield;” (Psalm 84:11). Only His […]

LU Founder Wreath Memorial

My office (Jerry Falwell Museum) has the privilege of changing the wreath on Dr. Jerry Falwell’s grave each month. He was the Founder and Chancellor of Liberty University. Since it is the beginning of a new academic school year…and for Doc being a Godly leader in American history, we went with red, white and blue. With […]

Hello!💛 Nice to meet you!

I’m Michelle, and I’m a painter and the author of the children's book, "Happy Heart: Fill'er Up!". I studied Graphic Design and Studio Fine Art in college. I have always been attracted to the beauty of my surrounds, and in my paintings I seek to capture the interplay of dreamy-fun and elegance of the simple and familiar scenes in life. I love texture and use layers of color to illustrate my designs. My goal is to create collections that will bring joy to your heart and color your home happy. I hope while you are here, you find encouragement, hope and joy to fill your heart. ♥ To learn more regarding my Happy Heart™ picture book for the little ones in your life, just click on the book image below.
