I just love the Fall! It ushers in so many fun community events in Virginia. I have always enjoyed attending festivals and fairs around my area and I am even more excited to (now) adventure out and participate as a vendor.
I had the opportunity to take part in the Sedalia Country Fair & Gathering on September 6th. Although, I think it was the hottest day we have had all summer, we tried to keep cool under our tent and enjoy the festivities.
I am big on recycling and using resources that normally would be discarded. I love seeing beauty come from what would not be considered lovely and then making it into something fun for others to enjoy.
The children had a choice of making a pumpkin ornament from wooden hearts that I picked up at closeout sale from a local craft store or a mummy ornament from mason board that I scooped up from a construction trash site (Look for ornament tutorials in future posts).
After my husband helped me get my tent set-up, my friend, Angie, came along to help the rest of the day. I am so glad she did!!! We had one child after another come by to paint and make an ornament. I did have a sign-up sheet, but it quickly got pushed aside and we ended up just allowing another child come as a spot opened up.
We had a great time working with so many sweet children. It gives evidence that because we are all made in the image of God (the Creator Himself), we are born to create. I see it in every child, the desire to make things. So glad for the opportunity to add a little sunshine to their days! In return, these smiles added it to mine!!!
All around we had a great day. The music by Rebecca Bryant was awesome! We had homemade apple cider made right before our eyes, enjoyed ice cream and good food and met wonderful people through it all!
My next community event will be on October 4th at Smith Mountain Lake, Bridgewater Plaza. Bring the family and have a great day by the water! 🙂
